Annual Leave Entitlement

0 –5 years aggregated NHS service: 27 days (202.5 hours)

After 5 years aggregated NHS service: 29 days (217.5 hours)

After 10 years aggregated NHS service: 33 days (247.5 hours)

All entitlements are pro rata for part time staff and there are additional

Public Holidays - Normally 8 per annum (pro rata for part time staff).

NHS Pension Scheme

All staff can become a member of the NHS pension scheme. This is a final salary scheme with a normal retirement age of 65. The scheme is contributory and you make payments towards it from your own salary. The employer contributes around 14% and your contributions are based on how much you earn.

No Smoking Policy

The PCT has adopted a No Smoking Policy. Staff are not be permitted to smoke in or on any PCT property (buildings and grounds) whilst on or off duty.

Library Service

NHS Staff Discounts

Flexible Working

The PCT recognises that balancing work with home life is something we all have to do. Having in place a range of working patterns is one way this balance might be achieved and we are committed to the use of flexible working patterns and initiatives in order to attract and retain high quality staff to enable them to balance their home and work lives effectively whilst meeting the needs of the service.

Childcare

There is an NHS Childcare Co-ordinator Service in operation which is dedicated to helping staff achieve a balance between work and family commitments.  The team can be contacted on 01473 329836 should you need any help or advice or you can access the website www.suffolkchildcare.nhs.uk for further information.  

We also offer staff the benefit of Child Care Vouchers, a scheme which can save you around 30% of your child care costs through National Insurance and Tax savings.

NHS Suffolk is committed to the employment and career development of disabled people. References

For any offer of employment to be progressed, two references will be requested.  At least one of these must be from a current or most recent employer. Receipt of unsatisfactory references will result in any provisional offer being withdrawn.

Occupational Health

We have an independent, confidential Occupational Health service specialising in the prevention and management of work-related health issues. Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Stowmarket, Newmarket and Lowestoft are just some of the clinic locations where you can self refer for advice.

Employment cannot commence until health clearance has been received from the Occupational Health department. If you are shortlisted for interview you will be sent a health questionnaire, which you should complete and bring with you to interview. A provisional offer will be made subject to satisfactory health clearance but if there is a concern regarding your fitness for the job then this offer may be withdrawn

Attendance Levels

The Trust is committed to delivering high quality and efficient services to patients and clients. To achieve this, good attendance levels are essential; therefore information regarding your previous attendance levels will be used when making recruitment decisions (based on information received from your referees and health questionnaire). If you have an unacceptably high level of sickness absence your application may not be progressed further. However when making any recruitment decision appropriate consideration will be given to any longstanding medical conditions and the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.
