Patient Selection
The Podiatry Service offers “open” referrals based upon clinical need, the criteria for which are set out below. All podiatrists are HPC Registered (with a degree or diploma and additional academic and clinical qualifications).
- Patients to be prioritised based upon that clinical need
- Specialist care for patients with diabetes
- Supply of manufactured orthotics – which can alleviate certain problems and/or reduce frequency of visits to podiatrist
- Use of nail surgery to alleviate acute and chronic nail problems.
Commitment to the 18 Week Wait Referral to Treatment Standard
We aim to provide definitive treatment for all new patients within eighteen weeks of their referral being received by the podiatry service, this applies to general podiatry, nail surgery and biomechanics referrals.
