NHS Suffolk is responsible for commissioning NHS dental for our Suffolk population, ensuring NHS Suffolk’s access standards are met and that NHS primary dental services are available locally to all who need them.
There are 84 NHS general dental practices across Suffolk many of which are accepting new NHS patients. Nine new practices have opened in the past two years to improve access for patients, an investment of more than £4m.
Access standards
- Patients should not have to travel further than 12 miles in rural areas and 5 miles in urban areas or have to wait longer than six weeks for a routine appointment.
- Urgent treatment should be available within 36 hours and a 20 mile radius.
