NHS Jargon Buster

It’s not too late to get protected against flu

There are less than two weeks left for people in at-risk groups to get a free flu jab at a GP surgery or pharmacy – and it’s not too late to get protected.

Flu jabs are available until 31 January 2013.

Dr Brian Keeble, NHS Suffolk’s consultant in public health said: “It’s still important for people in at-risk groups to protect themselves against the flu virus. Flu jabs are available until the end of January and I would encourage everyone in the at-risk groups to make very effort to get vaccinated.”

Free flu jabs are available from:

  • GP surgeries  -
  • If you are aged 65 or over
  • Are aged 64 or under and have a long-term health condition
  • If you are pregnant
  • Pharmacies – There are twelve pharmacies offering flu jabs for people aged 18 -64 who have a long-term health condition
  • Midwives – If you are pregnant

People aged 18 – 64 with one or more of the following long-term health conditions should get protected:
