On Saturday, 25th of February, a team of healthcare experts will be at Haverhill Market to offer a day of free healthcare advice to the public. Health coaches and pharmacists will be manning an advice stall and offering all sorts of health checks such as blood pressure and blood glucose testing, advice on diet and lifestyle and tips on how to quit smoking.
Hannah Hart-Fisher,Suffolk and Great Yarmouth Local Pharmacy Committee, said; “This is a great opportunity to come and see how local pharmacists and health coaches can help treat and support people with health concerns. So if you haven’t stuck to New Year’s resolutions to improve your health (and let’s face it not many of us have!) this is a fantastic opportunity to get some good advice and get motivated again”.
She continued “In the centre of this busy community, people can find how much pharmacists can help treat and support people with health concerns. Your local community pharmacy is right on your doorstep and can be accessed with or without an appointment and any advice, services or treatments can be given in a private consultation room”.
As well as qualified pharmacists there will be health coaches who work in the heart of the community taking health advice directly to people. Together, all these dedicated healthcare professionals work our local GPs and nurses to support the health needs of local people.
There is a choice in how to seek help for minor health complaints with advice available from a variety of local medical experts including, pharmacists, community health coaches, doctors and NHS direct phone line 0845 4647. NHS Suffolk is leading a campaign to promote the services of local pharmacists and community health coaches who are all here to help.
Pharmacies are situated in the heart of the high street or within a large supermarket and led by a fully qualified pharmacist who is usually available to provide advice on medication for minor ailments, tips on healthy living and some health checks and tests.
