Annual Health Check

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is an independent body, set up to promote and drive improvement in the quality of healthcare and public health.

The annual health check is the CQC's yearly assessment of the performance of NHS healthcare organisations in England.

    The CQC assess the performance of NHS organisations by looking at two key areas:

    • Quality of services, which covers a range of areas including patient saftey, cleanliness and waiting times
    • Use of resources, which looks at how well an organisation manages its finances.
